PARIS — A year ago, the Paris Cape Historical Society lost its long-time curator, Ben Conant. Ben was devoted to sharing the story of the Town of Paris, whether in historical programs, genealogical research, or casual conversations.
When he passed away, the outpouring of affection for this man who gave so much of his life to sharing history underscored how much people value the ties to their past.
PCHS is determined to carry forward Conant’s work. The trustees are now undertaking projects that will allow them to better share Paris’ history in person and online with anyone who might be interested.
In this spirit, a Grand Reopening and Business After Hours will take place on June 19 to reintroduce PCHS to the community at large and to the business community. Expected to attend and participate in a ribbon cutting is state Sen. Rick Bennett. The events are in cooperation with the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.
The Grand Reopening ribbon cutting will take place at 5 p.m., followed at 5:30 by Business After Hours. The museum is located at 77 High Street in Paris. The public is invited to attend. For more information on PCHS, visit its new website at pariscapehistorical.org.
