DIXFIELD — Three locals were arrested and charged with various crimes related to a convenience store burglary Monday, according to an Oxford County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Shawn Morrison, 25, and Justin Perry, 32, were each charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief.
Melanie Kinney, 51, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of scheduled drugs.
All three were taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.
An Oxford County Sheriff’s deputy was called to Ellis Variety at 126 Weld St. around 2:45 a.m. for a burglary alarm. The deputy discovered the store broken into and the interior had obvious signs of a burglary. The burglar or burglars had left the scene, according to the release.
During the investigation, the deputy discovered two masked individuals forced their way into the store around 2:45 a.m., ransacked it and fled with a small amount of cash and rolled coins totaling about $820.
Later that day, an adult female made purchases with rolled coins at another business and the deputy confirmed the coin rolls matched the ones stolen from Ellis Variety. Through surveillance footage, the deputy was able to identify several likely suspects.
The Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant around 7 p.m. the same day at 14 Third St. where Morrison, Perry and Kinney were allegedly discovered with stolen property, items involved in the burglary, opened coin rolls, clothing worn during the commission of the crime and .28 grams of cocaine base.
Anyone with information about the crime should contact Deputy Derek MacDonald at 1-207-743-9554.
