JAY — Water has been restored to customers of the North Jay Water District, Superintendent Ben Wright said Thursday.
The boil water order is still in effect for the whole district.
Wright was bringing water samples down Thursday afternoon to L & A Laboratory in Auburn to be tested. Wright said he hopes to have the results back Friday or Saturday.
Water was restored to customers on state Route 17, also known as East Dixfield Road, on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, water was restored to a mobile home park on Whispering Lane.
There was an old water main that was shortened to fix the leak adjacent to Sevenmile Stream in North Jay, Wright said, because the main was no longer needed.
Jay Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said Wright was out delivering water to customers in 5-gallon buckets Tuesday night.
Wright said he delivered water to customers on state Route 17 and Jerry Road so that people would have some water to flush their toilets. He delivered water to Whispering Lane customers on Wednesday.
People should boil water for at least one minute before consuming it, including when brushing teeth and washing vegetables.
