Over the last few months, I have followed Rep. Laurel Libby’s house censureship case with great interest. What Rep. Libby and her supporters seem to have forgotten is that she was censured because she posted an image of a minor without the individual’s permission, not for her political views.

As I understand it, she has only to apologize for posting the photo and she will have her voting and speaking rights reinstated. Instead, she has chosen to use the situation to curry favor with the Trump administration and to aid her in her fundraising efforts. For me, the fact that she’s decided to go this route places her squarely among the power-above-integrity political opportunists who are a big part of the reason the country is in the mess that it is.
