LISBON — A special School Committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday for the failed school budget referendum. It will be held at Town Hall and livestreamed on the town website.
Superintendent Rick Greene said next steps will be discussed and questions from the public will be answered.
By a vote of 724-312, residents rejected the roughly $21.2 million budget, of which $8.75 million would have been raised through local taxation. If approved, the amount would have increased property taxes about 8%.
The town struggled recently to come up with a municipal budget for 2026 after an accounting error in it caused a significant problem. Voters have expressed frustration with the roughly 11% budget increase ultimately approved by the council for the coming year.
