RANGELEY — The McDavitt Family Charitable Trust has honored the Rangeley Public Library with a generous donation in memory of Katherine Emily McDavitt. Kathy was the 1980 valedictorian for Rangeley Regional High School. She was an amazing and caring classmate and creative member of her class who participated in activities at Rangeley School that included cheerleading, softball and the National honor Society. Kathy was an avid reader from childhood and loved to visit the school and Rangeley library to discover new adventures in reading and imagination.

After graduating from Rangeley Regional High School Kathy attended Syracuse University where she majored in computer science. She was passionate learning about computers and the endless possibilities the future of technology could offer learning, medicine and the sciences. Kathy died tragically at the university in 1983 as she was walking home and was accidently struck by a car. She was only twenty-one years old and a junior at the time.
