MINOT — Police say a local man is responsible for setting a fire early Sunday that destroyed a two-bay garage and damaged a home at 330 Garfield Road.
John Poulin, 57, was taken into custody in connection with the fire, according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. Police say he knew the homeowner and was staying at the residence.
Poulin was later transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He is expected to be arrested and charged with arson upon his release, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the department, said.
The Office of State Fire Marshal was called to the scene at 3:30 a.m.
Three individuals were displaced as a result of the fire, Moss said. There were no reported injuries.
