On June 12, Alex Padilla, the senior senator from California, was forcibly removed from a press conference held by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, forced to the ground and handcuffed. Padilla’s “crime” was interrupting Noem to ask a question. Noem went on Fox News to say that the senator did not identify himself, whereas recordings clearly indicate that he did identify himself as a United States senator.
This is an assault on truth and democracy. We should all be profoundly worried about the actions of this lawless administration. This is not normal. If they can do this to a U.S. senator, they can do it and will do it to anyone who dares to speak up.
