AUBURN — A motorcyclist from Mechanic Falls was seriously injured Thursday when his bike struck a car on Minot Avenue and he was trapped under it, Auburn police Sgt. Nathan Westleigh said in a news release.
Norman Lizotte, 62, was traveling east on the four-lane road when a car driven by Sandra Wallingford, 74, of Auburn pulled out of Blackie’s Farm Fresh Produce to head west and did not see Lizotte on his Harley-Davidson, Westleigh said.
“Norman struck the driver side front door of Sandra’s vehicle,” which “rolled to a stop up against the curb and a telephone pole on the westbound side of the road. Norman became trapped under Sandra’s vehicle,” according to the news release.
Lizotte was extricated from under the Honda CRV by Auburn Fire Department personnel. He was taken to a hospital for serious life-threatening injuries, Westleigh said.
Wallingford suffered minor injuries and was seen and released by Auburn Fire Rescue.
