LEWISTON — Expect traffic and lines around 841 Lisbon St. for the next few days as the city’s first Popeyes Louisiana Chicken opens Friday morning. The franchise owners of the Southern purveyor of fried chicken told the Sun Journal last month the new quick-service restaurant would be ready to open by the end of June.
Contractors worked feverishly to finish the drive-thru and other exterior projects as training was underway inside for new employees. The building looks very different than it did just weeks ago.

Franchise owners Arsal Jaffery and Deven Jadav have plans to open a dozen Popeyes restaurants in Maine. Currently there are three other locations, in South Portland, Kennebunkport and West Gardiner, with another location announced for Augusta.
The company is owned by Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International, which also owns Burger King, Tim Hortons and Firehouse Subs. There are more than 2,700 Popeyes worldwide.
