Where is the outrage? Yes, there have been demonstrations around the country protesting President Trump’s authoritarian moves. But a week after each demonstration, people quiet down and go back to their lives.
I am shocked we don’t have even more vocal outrage at what is happening to our democracy. Just today there was a story on the national news about an undocumented man in California, a gardener at work trimming a yard, descended on by a team of masked ICE agents. Someone with a camera filmed the whole scene; we witnessed something right out of Nazi Germany in the 1940s.
The agents threw the man onto the ground and beat him in the head and body and then threw him into an unmarked car and whisked him away. It turns out that this man has no criminal record and has three sons, all of whom have served or are serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
His eldest son visited him in jail, three days after the arrest, and told reporters that his father had not been given any water or anything to eat since the arrest and was wearing the same blood- stained clothes he had on when arrested. Oh, and of course, he had not received any medical attention.
This is happening today in the United States of America. Where is the outrage? Add this to the Republican budget that helps the rich and takes health care away from so many. What has this country become? Where is the outrage?
