A “Jeopardy!” watch party in Portland on Tuesday night helped usher Jason Singer and Susan McMillan into an exclusive club of married winners of the show, but the celebration isn’t stopping there.

Singer, a former Portland Press Herald reporter and editor, was back on the show Wednesday night, where he claimed a second victory.

Singer won over $22,400 in his first win, which aired Tuesday, tying a 13-day streak of one-day champions, a record set in 2002.

He took home $26,400 in his second victory, putting an end to that streak, which was also referred to as “a curse” on Wednesday’s episode.

The couple’s accomplishment as “Jeopardy!” winners was celebrated with cheers and chants by over 100 friends and family members at the watch party at Brickyard Hollow in Portland.

“It was nerve-wracking the whole time. I wish I had made it easier on myself,” Singer said after the watch party Tuesday.

The couple hopes to get McMillan, a former Kennebec Journal reporter, back on the show in the near future. The chance to make a second appearance via a tournament reserved for dominant performers didn’t exist when she won $35,600 in 2021.

“I would love to go back on the show if they want to bring me back in any capacity,” McMillan told the Press Herald on Tuesday. “But, a lot of trivia competition is just incidental in wanting to keep learning new things, just for the sake of it.”

Singer gave the idea a few seconds of air time, writing “#BringBackSusan” below his Final Jeopardy responses on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The couple fostered a passion for “Jeopardy!” when they were first dating and have always aspired to be on the show. The two helped each other prepare ahead of their respective victories on the famed game show, creating flashcards so they could quiz each other — something they continued during the four years between their appearances.

On “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, Singer said, “just the fact of being her husband is the greatest preparation one could ever get.”

Singer may have had a slight edge in preparation over McMillan — she was able to share her hands-on experience with him.

“I told him he really needs to be on point with the buzzer timing,” McMillan said on “Good Morning America.” “Everyone there knows pretty much all the information.”
