LEWISTON — The new management group for the Lewiston Colisée is resurrecting the Lewiston Maineiacs moniker for a junior hockey team that will play in the National Collegiate Development Conference this coming season.
The announcement from the United States Premier Hockey League on Tuesday came just hours after Mill Town Sports and Entertainment was named the new management for The Colisée.
According to the league’s news release, the new “MAINEiacs,” owned by Mill Sports’ Nate Bostic, will compete in the North Division within the New England Conference, along with the Presque Isle Frontiers.
“The addition of the MAINEiacs will provide a track to college hockey for players from Maine and beyond in what has historically been a strong junior hockey market,” the release said.
Bostic, a former junior hockey player who is also CEO of Boston Hockey Academy, said he wants to “build upon the legacy of high-level junior hockey in Lewiston.”
“This community has a well-established hockey culture dating back to the 1930s, and the fan base has always been supportive of their home team,” he said.
The Maineiacs team is resurrecting the name of the former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (now the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League) team, which operated at The Colisée between 2003-2011.
According to the United States Premier Hockey League, the addition of the Maineiacs brings the number of National Collegiate Development Conference teams competing in the 2025-26 season to 32, with the majority competing in the New England Conference, and it will be the first time Canadian teams have played in Lewiston since the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League team folded.
Bostic said that over the next two weeks, the Maineiacs will announce its coaching staff and game schedule, and unveil the new team jerseys.

“Welcoming Lewiston as the 32nd NCDC member is a tremendously exciting step as we build our North Division,” said Kevin Abrams, the National Collegiate Development Conference’s director of operations. “Having the MAINEiacs join our other teams in Maine, New Brunswick and Quebec marks the return of cross-border junior hockey to the region and positions the NCDC and USPHL uniquely well for even greater opportunities in the future.”
The announcement of the new team also means the Maine Nordiques, a Tier II junior team in the North American Hockey League that had played at The Colisée since 2019, is without a home.
Last month, Colisée owner Darryl Antonacci and former management group Shift Sports agreed to break a five-year lease signed in 2023 as the building’s sale was becoming possible.
The building is listed for $6.2 million.
