I was shocked and angered after reading the bold heading on Wednesday, July 2, declaring Sen. Collins voted against President Trump’s horrible policy bill. Shame on you. It doesn’t take a professional journalist to understand that Collins was instrumental in the successful passage of the bill by voting it out of committee. That was the real story.

As predicted, Collins toed the Trump line when they needed her. Once it made it to the floor, the Republican majority no longer needed her vote to push it over the finish line. She could vote against it and wring her hands bemoaning the negative impact it would have here in Maine and the rest of the nation. Regardless of what you wrote in the small print, the headline boldly gave a false narrative and did readers a grave disservice.

You added further damage by posting her picture alongside Sen. King and other elected officials who actually worked to stop the bill. Simply disgusting.
