DALLAS PLANTATION — The Maine Forestry Museum’s 44th annual Logging Festival was held Friday, July 11, and Saturday, July 12. The event celebrated  forestry and logging heritage and history of the region and beyond.

The event kicked off early Friday morning with an educational tour of an active logging operation in Davis Township, led by Seven Islands Land Company district resources manager Nathan Kay. The tour allowed participants to learn about sustainable forestry methods and to see timber harvest operations in action.

Saturday’s events included the ever-popular Logging Festival Parade, Hall of Fame induction, and logging competition.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame were Brian, Bryce and Craig Pinkham of Phillips. Robin Crawford of Wytopitlock was induced posthumously.

Organizers and volunteers prepared and served a traditional bean hole dinner, complete with biscuits cooked in reflector ovens.
