Lilli Kerluke and Caroline Matusovich, who helped North Yarmouth Academy win the NEPSAC’s Vaillancourt Conference Championship this season, are attending USA Hockey’s Player Development camp at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Matusovich, of New Gloucester, is at the camp for 16 and 17 year olds that began Friday and runs through Wednesday. The defender also played for the East Coast Wizards (Mass.), which went to USA Hockey’s 16U 2A national tournament in the spring. She recorded four goals and an assist.
Kerluke, of Scarborough, will be in Oxford from July 24-29 for the camp for 15 year olds. The forward recorded a goal and two assists for the Casco Bay Mariners 14U Tier II team during USA Hockey’s 16U 2A national tournament.
The camps are part of the selection process for the Girls 18U National Festival being held in Lake Placid, New York, from Aug. 3-9.
Mainers do well at boys player development camps
USA Hockey’s national 17 festival wrapped up Sunday, and two Mainers helped Team New England to the championship game, where they lost to Team Atlantic. Forward Jude Herron of Fort Kent, a University of Maine commit who played for the Charlottetown Islanders (11 goals, four assists) of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League in 2024-25, notched four assists in six games for Team New England. Garrit Turcotte of South Berwick had one assist for New England in six games. The forward played for the Seacoast Performance Academy 16U team (34 goals, 47 assists) based in Exeter, New Hampshire. Turcotte was selected in both the United States Hockey League (Sioux City Musketeers) and North American Hockey League (New Hampshire Mountain Kings) entry drafts this spring.
Forward Declan Wotton of Windsor and the Seacoast Performance Academy 15U team attended the national 16 festival in late June, where he notched three goals and an assist for Team Red. He was selected for the all-star game at the end of the camp. Wotton was also selected in the USHL (Fargo Force) and NAHL (New Hampshire Mountain Kings) Future Drafts. He will be attending Baie-Comeau Drakkar’s training camp in August after being taken in the fourth round of QMJHL draft in June.
