Now President Trump wants to deport Haitians, despite continuing violent civil conflict in their home country. Are they criminals? No, but they’re not white, wealthy Americans, so giving them refuge is not in the “national interest.” In fact, as we’ve seen in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, poor American citizens of any race don’t contribute to the holy bottom line. So, remove support for them as well as education, health care, libraries, tribal colleges, public broadcasting, medical research, etc.
We no longer keep our promises to allies, or reach out to help those in need. Instead our president models cruelty, revenge and disrespect. As individuals, we must not follow his lead.
