NORWAY — The Norway Country Club Ladies Golf Association is happy to announce the planning of its 12th annual Drive Out Cancer Golf Tournament for Thursday, Aug. 14, at NCC. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit, located at 59 Winter St. in Norway, serves anyone impacted by cancer in the Oxford Hills and surrounding communities, including Bridgton, Bethel, and Rumford. The CRCofWM offers free in-person and virtual programs, classes, support groups, travel and food assistance, plus a variety of comfort items. This fundraising event includes a ladies’ 18-hole scramble, basket raffle, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle.
Members of the NCCLGA will be asking friends and businesses in the Oxford Hills and surrounding area for monetary donations and items for the silent auction and raffle. Individuals or businesses may sponsor this tournament by choosing to be a Bronze sponsor for $250 donation, a Silver sponsor for $500, or a Gold sponsor for $1,000. These sponsors will have their names on a sign by the clubhouse and will be listed in the program. For $125, a business or individual may be a tee sponsor and have its name posted on a sign at a golf tee. The ladies also collect a variety of items and gift certificates from local restaurants, golf courses, and stores in the area to put in their silent auction and basket raffle.
The public may place bids and purchase raffle tickets the week before the tournament up until the golf tournament begins. Ladies will also be selling 50/50 tickets for the two weeks leading up to the golf tournament, one for $1, six for $5. All winners will be announced after lunch on that day. There will be a sign-up sheet at the golf course for ladies to sign up, or call (207) 807-0226. Anyone with questions or interested in making a tax-deductible donation may call (207) 807-0226 or email [email protected].
