John Hutchinson, business reference librarian at Raymond F. Fogler Library in Orono, will present a program about Milton Bradley on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Norway Memorial Library.
Milton Bradley was born in Vienna, Maine, in 1836. He was a game maker who pioneered fun and educational games and later became a champion of the kindergarten movement. He was also a master lithographer and creative entrepreneur. This talk, which explores his remarkable life and legacy, will include visuals such as a reproduction of his first hit board game, a first-edition set of his popular Author Cards, and even a working zoetrope.
Whether one is a fan of board games, history, or inventors, they will leave with a new appreciation for the man behind the Milton Bradley Company.
