Max Ferguson’s grand slam in the seventh inning lifted the Portland Sea Dogs to a 4-3 win over the Altoona Curve in an Eastern League game Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.
The Sea Dogs were held to four hits through six innings, but they loaded the bases in the seventh on a walk to Mikey Romero, a single by James Tibbs III and a catcher’s interference call that allowed Ronaldo Hernandez to reach base. Ferguson then pinch hit for Brooks Brannon and greeted new reliever Justin Reis with a drive over the right-field wall for his sixth home run of the season.
Jacob Webb was credited with the win after pitching two scoreless innings in relief. Zach Bryant got the save.
Hayden Mullins wound up with a no-decision after allowing two runs in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, walked four and gave up three hits.
