The July 26 edition of the Portland Press Herald covered Sen. Susan Collins and her claim of success in pushing the White House to free up $20 million in funds for education for Maine.
I seem to see a lot of similar press releases and statements by our senator about clawing back funds for Maine. While that is a good thing, it is a case of the arsonist’s accomplice asking to be rewarded for putting out the fire they helped to start. Responsible, ethical politicians could have prevented us from ever being in this mess in the first place.
I won’t be adding Sen. Collins’ “accomplishment” to the plus column any time soon. We can do so much better.
