LEWISTON — Sabattus resident Meagan Beckles has opened Goddess Supreme Beauty and Hair Supply at 906 Sabattus St., across from Pizza Hut. The name only tells part of the story behind the business. She offers specialized products that are not usually available in most retail outlets.
“As a local mom, my biggest motivation was seeing a real gap in the market for beauty supply stores that truly cater to my diverse hair needs,” Beckles said. “With multiracial kids of my own, I wanted to create a welcoming space where every unique hair texture is celebrated and supported.”
She describes her products as “a unique blend of braiding hair, wigs, and ethnic products specifically for ‘coily, curly’ hair, combined with a passion for natural wellness.”
It’s that passion that sets her apart. Beckles offers a line of products that are hypoallergenic, perfume-free, additive-free, and include laundry soap, pet shampoo, dish soap, shampoo and conditioner.
The products are available in small or large quantities — you can bring your own container or pick one up from her store. Beckles says these products are less expensive than name brand items that are widely available, and are free of toxins and harsh chemicals.
There’s a line of organic botanicals for people who like to DIY their own combinations for teas or bath essentials, including chamomile, rosehip oil, rosemary, lavender, hibiscus and much more. All these products are available pre-packaged or in bulk.
“We offer versatile herbal botanicals for brewing, soaking, or DIY skin and haircare, and we’re proud to feature an organic ‘refillery’ bar to promote sustainability,” Beckles offered. “We’re creating a space where hair, beauty, nature, and wellness truly come together.”
There are men’s and kids products as well.
Beckles says she plans on informational and networking events where people can get advice and help with products and issues. Her first event is planned in collaboration with Múkwa Naturally Curly Hair. The event is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the store. The subject is hair care tips and is not limited to people with curly or textured hair.
Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
