A recent letter to the editor (“Rules of the road apply to drivers and riders alike,” July 19) narrated a very near fatal accident at a traffic light. The writer ended saying he did not report it, in spite of having a dash cam that recorded the event. The writer should have reported it anyway; the film may have shown the plate number.
A few weeks ago, I witnessed a minor fender bender in a parking lot, which I photographed at the scene, showing the plate numbers. The offending driver left before the owner of the dented car returned. On the way home, I went to the new Augusta police station and the person at the desk took my information and seemed pleased to take the photos off my camera.
I have no knowledge if anything happened, but felt I was providing a service.
