ARTS

The Rangeley Friends of the Arts will show the photography of Scott Perry at the Lakeside Contemporary Art Gallery, located in the lobby of the RFA Lakeside Theater, 2493 Main St, in Rangeley, through Aug. 8.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. For the RFA’s complete schedule of events and programs, visit rangeleyarts.org.

ADULT RESPITE CARE

The Adult Respite Care Program, called HARC (HELP ADULT RESPITE CARE), is a service that provides needed relief for caregivers of cognitively challenged seniors. The program has activities designed specifically to enrich the participants’ daily lives based on their capabilities, experience, interests and personality. This service is open Wednesdays 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., and is located at the lower level of Rangeley Family Medicine, 42 Dallas Hill Rd., and includes lunch and a snack. CHURCH SERVICES

Services will be held at the Oquossoc Union Church, also known as the Log Church, Sunday mornings at 9 a.m., through August 31. The theme for this summer’s series is “The Water of Life – Jesus Christ.” Pastor Tony MacNaughton will bring an uplifting message on this theme each Sunday, and also a special message for the children. Talented musicians will provide special music. Join us on Sunday mornings at this historic church in Oquossoc. Bring your friends and family.

FARMERS MARKETS

Farmers markets are open for the season! In Rangeley, visit the South Shore Drive Farmers Market on Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The market is held in the lot at the corner of Route 17 and South Shore Drive. The Downtown Farmers Market is held in the Depot Street parking lot on Thursdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Phillips Farmers Market is held at the Phillips Area Community Center on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

FOOD

Rangeley Food Bank welcomes all to stop by every Tuesday 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St. We’ve got lots of good food to fill you up.

HISTORY

Explore the history of Rangeley and Oquossoc on foot with a knowledgeable tour guide. These one-hour tours offer a unique perspective on the region’s past, allowing you to discover the sites of the region’s earliest buildings and businesses in downtown Rangeley. Explore images from the Historic Rangeley collections and transport yourself back in time to the region’s Gilded Age, all while getting some exercise and exploring these charming village neighborhoods. Each tour is approximately one mile round trip. Tours are operated weather permitting. The Rangeley tours are held on Saturdays through August, departing from the Rangeley History Museum at 11:00 a.m. The Oquossoc tours are held on Wednesdays through August, departing from the Outdoor Heritage Museum at 11 a.m.$5 for non-members/Free for members and children 18 and under. Tours are limited to 10 individuals, so please arrive early to reserve your space. Well-behaved dogs welcome!

LIBRARY

The Rangeley Public Library, 7 Lake St., is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“Color Our World” children’s program begins Wednesday, July 9. Come learn with us! This summer we are going to discover all the ways we can COLOR OUR WORLD. Each week there will be stories, activities and a snack, focused around the theme of a style of art, from painting and chalk, to clay and fabric, and even a little bit of performance! Open to ages 6-9: Wednesdays, July 9- Aug 20. Open to ages 3-5: Thursdays & Fridays, July 10- Aug 22. Please sign up at the  library.

MAHJONG

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are held on Tuesdays, 7-8 p.m. (Open Discussion), and Saturdays, 7-8 p.m. (Closed Discussion), at the Rangeley Free Baptist Church, 3 Lake St, Rangeley. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Open Big Book meeting is held Fridays, 7 – 8 p.m. at the Madrid Historical Society Schoolhouse on Schoolhouse Road in Madrid Township.

MUSIC

The Farmer’s Daughter will also host live music this summer. On Friday, July 18, 4 – 6 p.m.: Latin Jazz with Sonja Florman and Good Friends. Rangeley Friends of the Arts Indoor Concert Series presents The Sandy River Ramblers, Friday Aug. 1;  New Relm, Wednesday, Aug. 6;  Rangeley Community Chorus (Free), Thursday, Aug. 21; Invite the Wild, Friday, Aug. 22. OUTDOORS

Join us on Friday, Aug. 1, for a sunset paddle on Rangeley Lake, hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Rangeley Adventure Company, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The paddle will begin and end at the Rangeley Town Park public boat launch and cover a few miles of the Rangeley Lake section of the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail. THRIFT SHOPPE

The Church of the Good Shepherd Thrift Shoppe, 2614 Main Street, is open Friday and Saturday mornings 9 a.m. to noon. It is a place that is shopped by local folks, winter and summer folks, and the Rangeley Friends of the Arts searching for costumes and set decorations. The bargains are amazing and the range of goods diverse. Proceeds from our Shoppe support the operating costs of Good Shepherd and contributes to local, national and international agencies that provide for the poor and needy of the world. The Thrift Shoppe accepts donations of gently worn clothing, jewelry, accessories and household items. (No televisions, large electronics or furniture, please. See full list of items that can not be accepted in the Undercroft) Donations may be dropped off at the Undercroft anytime during the day or evening.
