On July 22, Sen. Angus King voted to confirm ultra-conservative and anti-abortion Josh Divine to a lifetime federal judgeship. Sen. King later said he made a “mistake” in his vote and that he took Sen. Josh Hawley’s advice in confirming Divine.
Sen. Hawley, who objected to the certification of President Biden in 2020, is a highly dubious source from whom to be taking advice. We are six months into the GOP systemically dismantling democracy and Sen. King still finds members of their party to be trustworthy?
I’m weary of Sen. King searching for middle ground with Republicans. There is no middle ground with them, and women will suffer as a result of his “mistake.” If Sen. King is not looking closely at those he is confirming to lifetime appointments, I urge him to consider retirement.
