Louise C. Mendes

BRUNSWICK – Louise C. Mendes, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025 after a long and full life. She was born August 14, 1934, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Tetreault. A native of Brunswick, Louise graduated from Brunswick High School at the age of 16.

She married Joseph M. Mendes in July, 1956. She became a homemaker raising five children as her husband established his medical practice in Lisbon Falls. Louise loved gardening, knitting, cooking and travel. Joe and Louise spent many summers at their cottage in Cundy’s Harbor enjoying fishing, boating, and cookouts with their family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2003; her sister, Phyllis Trytek, and brothers Paul Tetreault and Raymond Tetreault.

She is survived by her five children, Joseph Mendes, her son, and his wife Mary of Portland, daughter Susan Brown and her husband Robert of Bowdoinham, son Peter Mendes and his wife Lesley of Webster, NH, daughter Kathleen Dudzic and her husband Derek of West Bath, and daughter Martha Grzyb and her husband Walter of Lovell. Louise also has nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care Louise received from the staff at MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital, Horizons Living & Rehab Center and Sunnybrook Senior Living over these past few years.

Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick. Following interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery on Pine Street there will be a reception at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick.

Arrangements are in the care of FA Group/Funeral Alternatives, Brunswick.
