AUBURN — An original musical by Paul G. Caron, written over two decades ago, called “Lewiston: A New Home” is being updated with new material to include changes and events that have transpired since it was first produced.

Seventeen veteran actors from L/A Community Little Theatre gathered Friday night at the theater at 30 Academy St. for a staged reading, with eight songs performed for the general public invited to attend. Many of the musicians that will make up the 25-piece orchestra in the musical, conducted by Colin Britt, were also in the audience.

The musical brings to life the stories of Lewiston’s Indigenous, Franco-American, African, and other immigrant communities, whose contributions have shaped the city’s identity and culture.

While many of the veteran Community Little Theatre actors hope to land the roles they read Friday night, the cast has yet to be selected. Open auditions will be held at the theater Aug. 10 and 11. The musical will be presented in October and November at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium, 75 Central Ave.

The script, music and other details can be found on CLT’s website, laclt.com.
