Did people know that Maine is one of only 14 states that doesn’t require voters to provide identification? In October 2024, a Gallup poll found that 84% of Americans support voter ID. This is not a partisan issue, it’s an election integrity issue and it’s common sense. Voter ID increases voters’ trust in the election process, which as we know has come into question following multiple elections over the last decade.

I encourage my fellow Mainers to please vote “Yes” on voter ID in November.

Oh, and by the way, voting yes will also require the Maine secretary of state to issue a state ID card, which is completely free to any eligible Maine voter who wants one, ensuring that nobody is denied the ability to vote due to the lack of identification.

Let’s implement voter ID in our great state to secure and enhance the trust in Maine’s election process.
