I live in western Maine, trying to grow crops and store solar energy for my solar power system. With this smoke from Canada my crops are way behind in development. The nighttime temperatures are too low for proper development. Daytime sunlight is diminished for photosynthesis required for plant growth. My recorded solar energy output from my solar array is 20-30% less than normal.
I have health issues related to asthma and COPD as well as several of my relatives who are also suffering. Something has to be done with Canada to get it to focus on forest management, as it does nothing to reduce these fires. Our Western states have wildfires as well, but at least they attempt to keep them under control and reduce the damage and smoke.
The Canadian government in Ottawa doesn’t care about the damage they are doing to their own country and their neighbors to the the south. The Trump administration needs to use all actions, including tariffs, to get that government to act. If they continue to act in this irresponsible way then we need to cut all ties with them and make it painful to the point that the Canadian people wake up from their stupor and get rid of that stupid regime.
