I support voter ID. Maine people want voter ID. A valid identification is needed in many aspects of our civilized, legal life. The list is long for the requirements of a valid ID. Honest, trustworthy people realize the importance of proper identification. There are provisions in the proposed law for a free ID for anyone who cannot afford to get one, whatever the reason.
I am concerned about voter fraud. Undocumented immigrants have registered to vote, and nonresidents voting is real. Perhaps people haven’t heard about it on legacy news, but several cases of fraud have been shown to have happened in our state. (The Maine Wire, Judicial Watch, others).
Many institutions in our country have a crisis of trust. Voter ID is one way to restore public trust. Voters want honest, reliable, sensible voter ID laws with equal and fair rights for all legal citizens. Vote “Yes” on Nov. 4.
