What a fantastic concert Saturday night by the Down East Brass at Windsor Town Hall. After appealing for funding for the local food bank, due to painful administration cuts, the quintet launched into astounding renditions of 1960s and 1970s pop music. From Dick Clark’s Bandstand theme and Frankie Valli, to the Beach Boys, the Beatles and even The Turtles, the narrative was riveting. (Who knew that John Lennon suffered from depression?). They finished with “Wichita Lineman,” “Stairway to Heaven” performed in Bach-classical style and even “The Hustle.” Such dynamic harmonies!
Two of the five members had physical impairments. Talk about an inspirational performance. People should do themselves a favor and see them perform at the Windsor Fair.
These five musicians came out to simply “think locally and act locally” when it comes to feeding our neighbors in need. We need to do likewise.
