Charles B. Keene
LEWISTON – Charles B. Keene, 77, of Livermore, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his loving family by his side, following a long battle with COPD and heart disease.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1948, in Livermore, the son of Lloyd and Annie (Akers) Keene. He attended Livermore Falls High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, in Vietnam. He married Barbara Guild, his long-time companion, on June 25, 2016, in Livermore.
Charlie worked for Jay Police Department and as Chief of Police in Livermore Falls for many years. He was self-employed lumberman and ran an excavating business as well. He was a member of D.A.V., and the Maine Draft Horse and Oxen Association. Charlie enjoyed fishing, horse pulling and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Keene; son, Matthew Keene and daughter, Carla Keene all of Livermore, stepson, Alan Keene and husband Anthony of Doraville, Ga., and stepdaughter, Heather Gottfredson and husband Robert of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren, Samuel and Gabriel Gottfredson; his brothers, Robert Frost of Berryton, Kan., and Brian Keene and wife Jane of Livermore, sisters, Joanne Leighton of Jay, Donna Davis and husband David of Peru, and Laurie Benjamin and partner Timothy Laske of Lewiston; mother-in-law, Ilean Tracy of Livermore; sisters-in-law, Joanne Keene of North Turner and Marti Guild of Livermore; in-laws, Karen Nichols of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Bruce Guild and wife Dotty of Auburn.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Frank, Michael and Roger Keene, sisters, Sylvia Weymouth, Vicki Hyde and brother-in-law, Rocky Guild.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Friday, August 22 at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. A private graveside service will be held with military honors at Intervale Cemetery, Maple Lane Road, Livermore, Maine.
