Each day we watch the horror unfolding in Gaza. Its people are dying in ever increasing numbers from starvation and military attacks. The entire country is being reduced to rubble. Many of the victims are young children, babies and women. Food awaits distribution as the desperately hungry are murdered seeking this sustenance.

Does anyone honestly believe that the Israeli government, known for its intelligence, planning and implementation capacity, cannot devise a food distribution plan to save lives? Israel is perpetrating genocide and we, the U.S. taxpayers, are supporting this shameful tragedy. How does a country, born 80 years ago out of the Holocaust exterminations, excuse the needless deaths of thousands of innocents?

Meanwhile, we at home are consumed with the scandal, corruption and smut that swirls constantly around the Trump administration. This is diverting our attention from critical issues. The president appears to have given Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a free hand to pursue a murderous course ever since he took office. He lately commented that they would have to “fight on.” Diplomacy be damned.

Other countries, and the U.N., have spoken out and are acting. Where is the outrage from the United States? This will rightfully go down as an unforgivable moral and human atrocity.

We should be withholding military and financial support from Israel until it stops this shameful campaign.
