Amelia Chick scored the winning goal as Mt. Blue opened its field hockey season Friday with a 2-1 victory at Brunswick.
Morgan Hersey was the other goal scorer for the Cougars. Mt. Blue goalie Gwen Lesperance finished with one save.
Darby Brown scored for Brunswick and Isabel Troche recorded four saves.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 9, TELSTAR 0: Ava Davis recorded a hat trick for the Phoenix in a victory over the Rebels in Jay.
Alaina Kachnovich scored twice and set up two goals, while Asia Armandi added a goal and two assists. Adell Pease, Linda Lake and Rylee Wright also scored.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2, OAK HILL 1: Melina Byam’s goal in the fourth quarter lifted the Falcons over the Raiders in Wales.
Addison Libby also scored for Mountain Valley, and Isabella Dupuis made three saves.
Janiah McKay found the back of the net for Oak Hill. Ella Martin turned away eight shots.

Bella Baehr and Harper Stasulus also scored for Winthrop.

MARANACOOK 2, MT. ABRAM 0: Phoebe Bell scored two goals to lead the Black Bears to a season-opening victory over the Roadrunners in Readfield.
The Black Bears (1-0) outshot the Roadrunners (0-1) 16-5.
DIRIGO 1, TELSTAR 0: Sophia Nino scored three minutes into the second half to lift the Cougars (1-0) past the Rebels (0-1) in both teams’ season opener in Dixfield.
Dirgo goalie Madison Knowles recorded her first shutout while making six saves.
Telstar’s Ayva Jeselskis fired three shots on goal.

LEAVITT 3, GARDINER 2: Tyler Mates scored twice and added an assist as the Hornets won their season opener in Turner.
