
Boys
Alfie Cognata, Winthrop junior: Cognata finished fifth at the Class C championships (17:38.24) last year. He also placed third at the Class C South regional and was the Mountain Valley Conference runner-up. He’ll be battling with Dirigo’s William Morris all season to be the region’s top male runner.
Malachi Ganong, Lisbon senior: Ganong returns as the top runner for the Greyhounds, after he finished 10th at the 2024 Class C championships and fourth (18:11.09) at the South regional.
Enzo Giampaolo, Lewiston senior: Giampaolo has established himself as one of the top runners in Class A. Last season, he finished second at the state championships with a time of 16:22.49. He also won the Class A North title and finished second at the KVAC championships.
William Morris, Dirigo junior: Morris finished fourth (17:33.29) at the Class C championships last year. He also was the runner-up at the South regionals and is the defending Mountain Valley Conference champion. He should be slugging it out with Alfie Cognata for the top spot in Class C South throughout the season.
Calvin Vincent, Edward Little senior: Vincent should be the top runner for the Red Eddies after he finished fifth at the Class A North regional and eighth at the Class A championships in 2024.

Girls
Emma Albert, Leavitt senior: Albert has started off the season on the right foot, placing fifth at Mt. Blue’s meet on Sept. 5. She will team with Haley Marston to give the Hornets a dynamic 1-2 punch.
McKenzie Boyle, Dirigo junior: Boyle finished 11th (21:30.87) at the Class C state meet last year and fourth at the MVC championships. She started this strong by being the top female finisher at the Laliberte Invitational at Cony High School in Augusta last month.
Haley Marston, Leavitt senior: Marston finished seventh (19:58.30) at the Class B championships last year and fourth at the South regional. She’ll contend for a top-five finish in a tough class.
Addie Paul, Mt. Abram senior: Paul leads the Roadrunners after running to an eighth-place finish at the MVC championships last fall and 14th at the Class C South regional.
Eliza Stinson, Mt. Blue senior: Stinson is the top returner and leader for the Cougars. She placed fourth at a home meet in Farmington on Sept. 5.
