Corbin Burke blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone to give Deering an early lead, propelling the Rams to a 54-31 victory in Class A football action Friday in Portland.
Burke also caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Deering (1-1) quarterback Nathan Foley, as well as a 2-point conversion pass, and he recovered two fumbles.
Joey Foley rushed for over 200 yards, scored three touchdowns and recorded 12 tackles. Nathan Foley added a 55-yard rushing touchdown.
Tanner Melanson had a 95-yard touchdown run for the Red Eddies (1-1). Quan Bullock, Evan Madigan and Dominic Langelier each added a rushing touchdown, and Matt Fecteau kicked a 37-yard field goal.
GORHAM 38, LEWISTON 6: Wyatt Washburn’s four touchdowns led the Rams (1-1) to a home win over the Blue Devils (0-2) in Gorham.
Washburn had two TD catches from Garrett Poulin and returned both an interception and a kickoff for touchdowns.
Atticus Whitten also scored on an interception return.
DIRIGO 39, POLAND 14: Hudson Lufkin threw five touchdown passes and had a 55-yard TD run as the Cougars improved to 2-0 with a victory over the Knights (1-1) in Poland.
Lufkin completed 11 of 17 passes for 161 yards and finished with 250 yards rushing on 20 carries. Four of his touchdown passes went to Trevor Crosby, who caught five passes for 100 yards. Owen Smith (4 catches, 38 yards) also hauled in a TD pass for Dirigo.
On defense, Lufkin made 11 tackles, including four for losses, and intercepted a pass.
Poland QB Damon Martin connected with Jameson Plummer on a 27-yard scoring strike. Martin also ran in a score. He finished with 101 yards passing and 77 yards on the ground. One of Martin’s passes was a 68-yard completion to Sawyer Ramsdell.
