RANGELEY — The Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley is happy to announce that their bell has been repaired! Thanks to diligent work by parish volunteers, the bell will joyously ring out once again.  Upcoming events include the Bishop’s visit on Sunday, Sept. 21, an Apple Crisp Fundraiser at Saddelback’s Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 4, and the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Brown, Tenth Bishop of Maine, will celebrate the Eucharist at Good Shepherd on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 8:30 a.m. A potluck brunch and a special dedication to good neighbors will follow.

At Saddleback’s Oktoberfest event on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Good Shepherd will be offering delicious home-made Apple Crisp. Proceeds will benefit the church’s work in the community and the world.

Our Annual Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all  Creation. The service is held on our lakeside lawn and will feature short readings and an individual blessing for each animal. Little ones may bring their stuffed animal friends, and please bring photographs of pets who would not find attending the live event a blessed experience! Your free-will donations will benefit the Franklin County Animal Shelter, a representative of which will be present to answer any questions about their important ministry.
