The former Oxford County Chrysler Jeep RAM dealership at 209 Main St. in Paris, seen Sept. 10, has been listed for sale for $2.6 million. The business, formerly owned by John Emerson, was seized by creditors and shut down last spring.

Months after Oxford County Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM was closed and seized by its main creditor, Massachusetts-based bank Rockland Trust Co., the property in Paris has been put up for sale.

Listing agent Justin Lamontagne of the Dunham Group said it is being sold by Five County Credit Union, which is headquartered in Bath.

“The credit union holds a clear title to the property, free of all encumbrances,” he said.

The list price is $2.6 million for a parcel comprising 4.77 acres and four buildings totaling 27,659 square feet. Lamontagne said the listing has attracted considerable attention online. He said he has spoken with several interested parties and shown it to a few prospective buyers over the past week or so.

He added that for the most part people viewing the property are involved in the automotive sales and service business, but the Dunham Group is promoting it as a multiuse commercial opportunity for a wider range of retail or light industrial uses.

According to documents at Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland, when the dealership closed April 4, Southern Hall LLC and John L. Emerson were indebted to Rockland Trust Co. for $4.46 million against inventories totaling $946,945.

Bill MacDonald, owner of a Stellantis dealership in Bridgton and a Ford dealership in Conway, New Hampshire, said last spring that Stallantis would have first right of refusal for brands sold at the Paris dealership.

Stellantis produces Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands sold by several of the previous owners.

On Sept. 10, MacDonald wrote in an email that he had no information on Stellantis’ association with the 209 Main St. property.

“Each dealership is an independent franchise of Stellantis,” he said. “They do not share individual dealership happenings with others.”
