ANSWER: This is a much-needed topic and will be helpful for all veterans and their families. Thank you for hosting this.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What happened to the articles that gave a highlight of the area high school fall sports? These articles would have a highlight of what the team looks like for the season with returning players, top new comers, and key losses. I haven’t seen these for any fall high school teams this year. This is very disappointing if this is the new norm.—Beth, no town

ANSWER: According to Lee Horton, Varsity Maine Editor, “We stopped doing the preview capsules before the spring season earlier this year. As the Sun Journal sports staff’s size declined, it became too much work. So we had to evolve, and our previews now consist of players to watch, teams to watch, and games to circle on the calendar for each sport. It’s a cool preview package, and the response has been great.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: GreenWood Gallery of Maine at 998 Old Danville Rd. in Auburn will be holding their 12th Annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every year the gallery invites artists, craftsmen, musicians, writers, and other vendors to join the one-day Open House Celebration.

All vendors are given a 10-foot outdoor spot to set up their own tents, tables, easels, etc. Please call me at 782-5118 for more information.

Thank you, Sunspots! The L-A community is helped so much by your column!—Anita, no town

ANSWER: This is a lovely gallery that used to be a workshop and a place where hunters gathered. Now the building has been retired to the old Danville community where Mathias Auger’s great-grand daughter, Anita Poulin, uses the building to exhibit the fine art produced by artists with connections to the state of Maine. This upcoming open house promises to be quite special. Enjoy!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please bring Sun Spots back to the Sun Journal digital edition. Since the paper updated their online look a couple of weeks ago, Sun Spots has not been accessible. We can still get to a page to “Ask Sun Spots,” but we just can’t see the answers!—Jean, no town

ANSWER: I checked on this and you’re right—it does look glitchy and hopefully, that’s temporary. Currently, the way I get to the digital Sun Spots is to go to https://www.sunjournal.com/ then click on “epaper” right under the masthead. Scroll through the pages to “Local & State” and you’ll find the column! Please let me know if you have any other issues with this and I will get some more assistance for you.

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name. We won’t use it if you ask us not to.
