PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Police in the Maine city of Portland say a 43-year-old man is dead following a fire in a Grant Street apartment.

The fire was reported at about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim was taken to the Maine Medical Center where he died. Police say the victim’s name will be released after detectives consult with the office of the Maine Medical Examiner.

Police say damage to the building was minimal.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
