NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library children’s department will offer pajama storytime programs from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 and Wednesday, May 18. Pajama storytime is for children ages 2-5 and will feature bedtime stories and lullabies to prepare your child for a good night’s sleep. Children may wear their pajamas, bring a favorite stuffed animal and, if desired, a blanket to lie under while Ms. Anna (also in her pajamas) reads stories.

Storytime is the library’s primary early literacy and language experience. It builds a perfect skill set for getting your child ready for kindergarten. “Talking with children and sharing books with them are excellent ways to encourage the development of many of the skills in the kindergarten readiness category,” according to Renea Arnold, a writer for School Library Journal. Kindergarten readiness skills are social, emotional, cognitive, expressive and language.

It’s never too early to begin reading to your child; read for just 20 minutes per day. Check out books following storytime to take home. For more information or to register for this program, contact the Norway Memorial Library at 743-5309, ext. 4.
