NORWAY — The Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation is accepting applications for grants until June 27. Awards will be decided by July 29.

Eligibility requirements for grants from the foundation are tied to sustainable healthcare initiatives which are limited to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations based in the Stephens Memorial Hospital service area.

The Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation awarded its first grants in 2008. The first grant was to the Guy E. Rowe School to purchase cross country ski equipment for K-3 students and the other two grants were awarded to the Western Maine Foothills Land Trust and the Progress Center for the Matt Record Park and Trails system. These grants were awarded in an effort to support the community in attaining more active lifestyles and also as part of Western Maine Health’s community outreach in addressing obesity initiatives.

To apply, visit www.wmhcc.org/schf for grant requirements or contact Barbara Allen, vice president development, Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation, at 743-1562, ext. 777.
