Pauline A. Roy

AUBURN – Pauline A. Roy, 91, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Lewiston the daughter of Anatole and Blanche (Rancourt) Roy.

Pauline graduated from Lewiston High School in 1949. She attended the St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and passed the boards the same year to become an RN in the State of Maine.

She continued her education at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. There she joined the Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor society for nursing. She went on to St Vincent’s Hospital School of Anesthesia in Worcester, Mass. She graduated in 1958 and passed the national boards of anesthesia the same year to become a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse of Anesthesia) of the AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists) and retained her membership as an Emeritus Member for life. She was a member of the Pioneers of AANA and also a member of the Friends for Life of AANA Foundation.

Pauline was honored at the 25th Anniversary of the MANA (Maine Association of Nurse Anesthetists as a Past President.

She continued her education attending Stephen College in Columbus, Missouri to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972.

Pauline was a world traveler, having visited all the continents of the world as well as 49 of the 50 states in the USA.

Pauline is survived by a sister-in-law, Norma Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as their children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Roland, Normand and Robert Roy, two sisters, Alice Lever and Marcelline Dubay.

The family would like to thank the staff at Clover Manor for their care of Pauline where she resided for the past four years. They would also like to thank the staff at the Androscoggin Hospice House for the care she received during her final days.

To honor Pauline’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
