Daniel Albert Kirouac

AUBURN – Daniel Albert Kirouac, 68, of Auburn, Maine died peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 2022, at his residence.

Dan was born in Lewiston, Maine, on Oct. 26, 1953, to Paul J. Kirouac and Dorilda M. (Cote) Kirouac and was educated in Lewiston Schools.

Dan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and after completing Boot Camp, attended the Field Music School in Parris Island, S.C., and was recognized for his performance as both a musician and Marine. He was selected as the third-place graduate of his class. After Field Music School he auditioned and was accepted into “The Commandant’s Own” The United States Drum and Bugle Corps in Washington, D.C. “The Commandants Own” is the only active duty drum and bugle corps currently serving in our Armed Forces. He performed for many dignitaries during his time in service. Dan received a certificate in recognition of his participation in the Presidential Inauguration of Richard M. Nixon in January, 1973.

After his military service, Dan built a career as a master plumber beginning with his apprenticeship with his father-in-law Lionel Cote at Ted Walker Inc and eventually opening his own business as DAK Plumbing and Heating.

Dan loved traveling to Tennessee to spend time with his beloved son and family. He thought the world of his grandchildren. He was an accomplished drummer. Besides his love of music, Dan loved watching the Red Sox, New England Patriots but most of all was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed a loving rivalry with son Allen who is a devoted Bruins fan.

Dan is survived by son Allen Kirouac and wife Amber; grandchildren, Brendan, Jazzmine, Piper and Dawson, sister Diane St Amand and husband Jack, former wife Diane Kirouac, brothers-in-law Donald Cote and wife Kim, Paul Cote and wife Louise and Roger Cote and life partner Lisa Mullen, nieces and nephews Jessica Green and fiancé Stephen McLaughlin, Dawn Michelle Kelley, Angela Wojcik, Kara Cougle and husband Tim, Chandra Elliott, Olivia Rossignol and husband Logan, Tom Cote and wife Michelle, Justin Cote and life partner Scott Alexander, great nieces and nephews Kayden and Mariah Kirouac, Landon Cougle and Cameron Sturgis, Godchild Jarrod Dostie and close friend John Ellis.

He was predeceased by father Paul J Kirouac, mother Dorilda M Kirouac, brother Michael Kirouac, father-in-law Lionel Cote and mother-in-law Blanche Cote.

Dan will be sadly missed by family, and friends.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
