AFCI’s goal: helping older adults in our community stay safely in their homes and receive necessary services. Toward that goal, do you have ideas for projects AFCI might want to undertake? Are you willing to help? Let us know through the contact information below.

As we’re beginning to emerge from our COVID-induced staying at home, the Age-Friendly Community Initiative is planning ways of interacting with community members. One major event has already been scheduled – put it on your calendar. On the June 14 election day, we will host the culmination of the grant-funded “Our Towns” project. For the better part of a year, we have been working hard to build and decorate benches and tables as gifts to all of our six-member towns: Bethel, Gilead, Greenwood, Hanover, Newry, and Woodstock. “We” is the Congo Craftsmen builders, BAAM (Bethel Area Arts and Music) artists, and Amanda Moran Designs. Watch for more details about the installation celebration in your town.

And wow, “a Grateful Dead tribute band like no other!” Bearly Dead band live at the Gem, Saturday, April 9: doors open at 6:00, Family Friendly Set at 7-8:15, Second Set at 8:15. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can with proceeds benefiting the performers as well as future BAAM programming at The Gem.

At the Bethel Alliance Church: conversation, coffee, and a bagel or doughnut, every Thursday, 9-1; come for one hour or all four.

Community Suppers last Wednesday of each month, 4:30-6 at the Bethel Alliance Church. Eat-in or take-out.

Music and Memory program for adults who have Alzheimer’s Disease or other related dementia and their caregivers – offered by SeniorsPlus starting April 1.
