NORWAY – Laura Ester Drouin, 69, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. Laura was born in Norway on Nov. 15, 1952, the daughter of Toivo and Helen (Colby) Heikkinen. She was the middle child of three. She received her education from Oxford Hills High School in 1971 and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washington Bible College with a bachelor’s in education.

Laura worked at Paris Christian Academy and Wayside, Wheelers and Whitmore Insurance. She also worked with her father at the tannery in South Paris.

On May 22, 1982, she married Paul D. Drouin and they had one child. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She would always be one of the first people to introduce herself to new visitors to her church. It was important to her to be able to share her faith in Jesus with others. She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, puzzles, playing card games, fellowship, camping at Pine Tree Acres in Buckfield, attending her grandchildren’s events, writing to her family and friends and would faithfully pray for others rather it be for her prayer chain, friends and family or anyone that she felt needed prayer. She also enjoyed sharing recipes and baking. She always loved and wasn’t afraid to try a new recipe. She felt it was important to write to missionaries for encouragement. She loved reading her Bible, singing hymns and playing piano. She attended church regularly as a member of Poland Baptist Church and was part of the women’s auxiliary at the South Paris VFW post #9787.

Laura is survived by her husband Paul D. Drouin of South Paris, her son Philip N. Drouin and his wife Ashley of Bryant Pond, her two grandchildren Nathanael and Caleb Drouin, her sister Cynthia Cushman of Norway and brother Stephen Heikkinen and wife Kathy of South Paris.
