
Roland R. Doucette
LEWISTON – Roland R. Doucette, 80, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, after a long battle with multiple health issues.
Born in Lewiston on March 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Muriel (Turcotte) Doucette. He attended Lewiston Schools and remained a resident of Lewiston, Maine, his entire life. He married Patricia Nelson, Aug. 20, 1966. Together they raised two children.
As a younger man he was a shoe shop worker, owner and operator of the Ritz Cafe, and worked many years at B.I.W. as a welder before owning and operating Midtown Athletic Club. In his retirement years he was employed at Lee Auto and most recently at Hudson Bus Lines as a bus monitor which he truly enjoyed.
His passion in life was his family, he truly loved and treasured his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to say he was a millionaire when it came to his family. His happiest years were spent at camp on Tacoma Lakes with his wife, children and grandkids.
Roland was also a pet lover and had many pets over the years, sometimes several all at once.
He leaves behind his much loved cat Curtis. Roland was a great storyteller and never shied away from good conversation. He was a people person who loved to make others laugh.
Roland was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Patty, who he missed greatly.
He’s survived by his daughter Joyce Lepage and husband John; son Michael Doucette and wife Rachel, all of Lewiston. Four grandchildren; Stephanye Doucette and fiance Shane Sagers of Sidney, Derrick Doucette and wife Brittney of Livermore, Allyson LeClair and husband Joseph of Levant, Thomas Lepage and fiance Jessica Cote of Lewiston. Four great-grandchildren, Jack and Brynn LeClair, Carter and Vera Doucette; one sister Joane Lebrun of Lisbon; one brother Ronald Doucette of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Henry Doucette both of Lewiston.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clover Manor for their compassionate care during their father’s short stay there.
