LEWISTON — Southern Maine Squadron SAFB plans to get together at noon Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Governor’s Restaurant, 1185 Lisbon St.

The squadron was formed by a group of veterans that went to Sampson Air Force Base for basic training before going on to a tech school. Sampson was a naval training station from 1942-45 on the shores of Senaca Lake, in the Finger Lakes Region, near Geneva, New  York, closing after World War II and re-opening during the Korean War era, 1950-56.

Veterans of all branches and their guests are welcome to join.
