Michael P. Garrity

AUBURN – Michael P. Garrity, 71, died peacefully at home on Oct. 11, 2022 with his loving wife by his side. Mike’s five-year battle of metastatic prostate cancer was faced with courage, dignity, and most days with his great sense of humor!

Mike was born in Lewiston on Sept. 11, 1951 to Thomas and Patricia (Curran) Garrity. He moved to Connecticut at a young age and lived there until graduating with honors from Notre Dame High School.

On March 10, 1997, he married Linda Thibault in Myrtle Beach, S.C. which quickly became their favorite golfing location. Together they enjoyed many wonderful vacations in the Carolinas, Arizona, Florida, and Hawaii.

Mike was an avid golfer. His claim to fame was the hole in one he got at Fox Ridge Golf Club. Mike loved to enjoy his passion of golf with family members and friends. He shared that although he didn’t master the game here on Earth, he hopes to become a pro on the greens in the great beyond!

Mike was employed as a trucker for many years. He worked most of his final 35 years of employment at Grimmel Industries, from which he retired in 2020.

Mike is survived by his wife, Linda Thibault. Other survivors include his brother, Timothy Garrity and wife, Laurie of Litchfield, sister-in-law, Norma Garrity of North Carolina, brother and sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Roger Belanger of Auburn, Dan and Greta Thibault of Lewiston and John Thibault of Lewiston. Mike is also survived by several special nephews and nieces.

Mike was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Martin Garrity; and niece, Chelsie Thibault.

Mike thanks all of his friends and family for taking the time to visit, offering support and guidance during this difficult time. A huge thank you to Kris, from St. Mary’s Oncology, you were a constant Mike knew he could depend on. Thank you to Androscoggin Hospice for your knowledge and compassion.

Per Mike’s request there will not be a formal service. A Celebration of Life will be held at Gipper’s Sports Grill in Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 12 to 2 p.m.
