Jeralean “Jerry” Elizabeth (Huddleston) Scales

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Jeralean “Jerry” Elizabeth (Huddleston) Scales, 89, of Deerfield Beach, Fla. and Maine, passed peacefully on Sunday morning, Sept. 18, 2022, at her home in Florida with her daughter by her side.

She was born April 30, 1933 in Sparta, Tenn., a daughter of John and Amanda Huddleston. She grew up in her early years in Cookeville, Tenn. where she attended school and took courses to further her education.

For many years, she lived in both Maine and Florida, where she enjoyed the pool, fine dining restaurants, lots of sun and hanging with close friends.

She loved to watercolor paint during the Maine summers and had a lifelong passion for fashion and photography, where she professionally modeled and worked in photography. Jerry owned a successful clothing store, “Jones of Wayne” in Wayne for many years while also owning various rental properties in Maine.

She loved her Neil Diamond music, teaching her grandkids the “jitter bug”, taught dance lessons and even danced with Jerry Lewis. Her countless life stories, the “jerk a knot in your tails”, along with her sense of style from matching outfits to bathing suits, to her beloved hats will be missed by all.

Jeralean is survived by her daughter, Belinda “BJ” (Jones) Silva and her husband, Michael Silva of Lewiston and Deerfield Beach, Fla.; her daughter by marriage, Kate Kinsella and her husband, Tim of Downingtown, Pa. and their children Karen, Shannon, and Patrick; Jerry’s three grandsons, Adam Jones of Lisbon and fiancé Ashley Meserve, Mark Jones of Lewiston and fiancé Livanah Vieira, and Chad Jones of Lewiston; and several great-grandchildren whom she loved, Hannah, Parker, Skylar, Sadie, Oliver and Katherine.

Jeralean was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Jones McKinney; a brother, Troy Huddleston.

A celebration of life service for Jerry will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m., at East Auburn Baptist Church in Auburn, with a private family burial service proceeding in Wayne.
